It has been a summer of festivals with the Light Wave touring; Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party and Light Up Festival. Organise by Up Projects (www.upprojects.com/portfolio/current/contemporary-art-at-festivals-2010/23) for Shangri-la and funded by The Arts Council, the whole thing was an experiment – placing ‘art’ in the festival context of which Light Wave was one of five artworks. It was, on the whole, a great success but not without reservations. For me personally it was a fantastic experience however with the exception of Glasto, all a little too laid back and I yearned for a bit of the uptightness of the ‘gallery’.

The year started with the Kinetica Museum Artfair 2010 (www.kinetica-museum.org). It was wonderful to be part of this amazing collection of work. I showed some older work including Femme Fatale reinvented as the first of a series of ‘cinetic’ pieces which combine film and kinetics.

The new cinetic piece is called Squaring the Sensual – it was fun to make and play with light, I hope to make more of these.
The highlight for me was seeing Bruce Lacey and hearing him talk about his life and work.

I’m currently working on a large scale wind powered light sculpture for Artscape, Barking Park which will see completion next year.
